Virat Kohli or Steve Smith - The Better Batsman
It's like comparing the Lion and the Tiger. Neither of them can be considered stronger or weaker. Both can't be compared. Both of them are the legends of the game. Virat is known for his sound technique where as Smith is famous for his unusual batting style.
If we talk about test cricket there are two major things, home record and away record.
Virat has almost scored at an average of near about 65 at home where as Smith has scored with the mind blowing average of near about 77. Stats states that Steve Smith has had an edge over the king Kohli if we talk about the home venues.
And if we talk about away venues Virat has scored runs at an average of about 46 where as Smith has scored runs at an average of about 53. Here too Smith is one step ahead of Virat Kohli.
Now let's move to ODI Cricket. If we talk about ODI cricket Virat has scored 11000 + runs at an average of almost 60 with 43 centuries already scored whereas Smith has scored 4000 + runs at an average of near about 43 with 9 centuries by his name.
And if we look at T-20I cricket, Virat Kohli has scored 2500 + runs at an astonishing average of 50 + whereas Smith has only managed to scored 500 + runs at an average of about 27.
Clearly Virat is far ahead in limited overs format compared to Smith.
Now if we talk about test cricket Smith is a bit ahead than Virat but if we talk about limited overs format Virat Kohli is a lot ahead than Steve Smith.
So if we conclude I can say at this moment Smith is a better Test batsman than Virat but Virat is a better limited-over batsman then Smith.
But according to me a champion batsman is someone who can score runs in every format at any venue across the globe. So for me Virat Kohli is slightly a better batsman than Steve Smith.
