The only team to qualify for the playoffs everytime they played the IPL, the only team to appear 8 times in the final, the only team to defend its title; yes I am talking about CSK.
2008 - The way they started their IPL journey in 2008 was astonishing, as Michael Hussey scored a brilliant ton in that game and they never looked back since then. CSK went on to win 8 out of 14 games and finished 3rd on the points table. They further defeated KXIP in the semi final by 9 wickets but couldn't cross the line in the final against Rajasthan Royals. L.Balaji and M. Ntini picked up hat tricks for CSK in 2008.

2010 - After two good seasons, CSK really wanted to win a title and they started in that fashion too defeating the defending champions Deccan Chargers in their first game. Murali Vijay scored a century against Rajasthan Royals in one of the league games. They won 7 out of 14 matches and finished 3rd on the points table. In the semi final game, they beautifully defended the target of 143 against the defending champions Deccan Charges and won that match by 38 runs. In the final, they defeated Mumbai Indians by 22 runs after setting up the total of 168 in the first innings.

2011 - The defending Champions started their 2011 campaign with a 2 run win against KKR. They also became the first team to win all their home matches this season. They won 9 out of 14 games and finished 2nd on the points table. They faced RCB in the first qualifier and chased a monstrous 175 run target where Albie Morkel scored 28 of just 10 deliveries and won that game by 6 wickets. In the final, they again faced the RCB, who entered the final after defeating Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier. CSK posted a big total of 202/5 which included a record opening partnership of 159 runs between M. Hussey and M. Vijay. CSK defeated RCB by 63 runs and went on to defend its title.

2012 - CSK started the season with an 8 wicket loss against Mumbai Indians. They ended up 4th on the points table with 8 wins out of 16 matches. They went on to beat Mumbai Indians by 38 runs in the eliminator after posting a total of 187 runs in the first innings. In the second qualifier against Delhi Daredevils, while batting first, CSK scored huge total of 222/5 which included a brilliant ton by Murali Vijay. CSK went on to win that match by a big margin of 86 runs. In the final against KKR, CSK couldn't defend the total of 190 as Manvinder Bisla played a brilliant innings of 89 runs from just 48 deliveries and snatched the title from CSK.

2013 - Till 2013, everyone had believed that CSK was one of the best teams of the IPL. CSK once again started with the loss against Mumbai Indians but ended up as the topper on the points table which included 11 wins out of 16 matches. They also defeated Mumbai Indians in the 1st qualifier by 48 runs after scoring 192 in the first innings. Mumbai Indians reached the final after winning the 2nd qualifier and CSK once again couldn't win the title as they couldn't chase 148 runs and ended up losing the game by 23 runs.

2014 - Like previous seasons, this season too they couldn't start their campaign with a win as they lost to KXIP by 6 wickets. They finished 3rd on the points table with 9 wins out of 14 games. They went on to beat Mumbai Indians in the eliminator but couldn't stop Kings XI Punjab to reach the final as they lost by 24 runs in the 2nd qualifier. This was the first instance after 2009 that they were not appearing in the final.

2015 - One can't Stop CSK to reach the final and they proved that immediately the next season. They topped the points table by securing 9 wins out of 14 games. In the first qualifier, Mumbai Indians defeated CSK by 25 runs as CSK couldn't chase the total of 187 runs. In the second qualifier, CSK defeated RCB by three wickets but once again couldn't cross the line in the final as they lost to Mumbai Indians by 41 runs.

CSK faced the match fixing controversies and got suspended for 2 years and couldn't appear in 2016 and 2017 season.
2018 - They returned with the bang as they won their first match against Mumbai Indians. They further went on to win 8 more games and ended up 2nd on the points table with 9 wins out of 14 games. In the 1st qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they snatched the victory from SRH and entered the final. SRH won the 2nd qualifier but once again couldn't stop CSK in the final as CSK won the title which included a brilliant ton by Shane Watson.

Best Bowler (CSK) : Shardul Thakur - 16 Wickets
2019 - CSK once again had a fabulous season and ended up 2nd on the points table by securing 9 wins out of 14 games. In the 1st qualifier against Mumbai Indians, CSK just posted a total of 131 which MI chased comfortably. In the 2nd qualifier against Delhi capitals, CSK won by 6 wickets and entered the final for the 8th time. In the final CSK lost on the final ball of the game by just one run.
