Top 5 IPL moments
If everything would have been normal, we must have been enjoying the IPL by now. But yes we can't control the nature. IPL in India is a festival. It has been a great 12 years of journey with a lot of memories. Here in this blog we will talk about the top 5 IPL moments yet -
It was just an experiment done to start the IPL. There were a lot of doubts about this format and what happened next. In the very first game, Brendon McCullum walked out to bat for KKR almost smashed to every part of the ground scored a magnificent 158* of just 73 deliveries against RCB and it cleared all the doubts about the IPL's future. What a start that was to the IPL.
How often have you seen Rahul Dravid angry. That was one of the few moments when he got angry and he actually through his cap in anger after the last ball. It was RR vs MI and a place in playoffs was on the line. RR batted first and scored 189 after 20 overs. MI had to score 190 in 14.2 overs or less to qualify for playoffs else RR would have been qualified. And then came the Corey Anderson scored 95 of 44 balls in that chase but what happened after 14.2 overs was the scores were tied. To qualify MI had to score a boundary on the next delivery and it was Aditya Tare facing his first ball and he scored a six to take MI through to the playoffs. It was one of the best game IPL has ever produced.
Yes 175 in a T-20 game, you read correctly. 175 of 66 deliveries which included 17 monstrous sixes. What an evening that was. For a moment it felt like there were bowling machines bowling not the bowlers, and the fielders seemed spectators. Every ball was smashed to the boundary by the big man. He is really a T-20 legend but scoring 175 in a game is something really magnificient.
Winning an IPL is a very big deal, holding your nerves while defending and winning by just one run is another big deal and doing both together is something very special and MI has done it not once but twice. While defending a target that too in the final of IPL, MI has held its nerves and won by 1 run on two occasions. Once in 2017 against Rising Pune Supergiants, MI defended 11 runs and the other time in 2019 they defended just 9 runs against CSK to win their fourth title. Mumbai Indians is definitely a great team under pressure.
Scoring 1 century in IPL season is good, scoring 2 is excellent but scoring 4 centuries in a single IPL season is purely class and domination. Virat Kohli scored 973 runs in 2016 season with 4 centuries and took RCB to the final single handedly. Although he couldn't make RCB win it's maiden title but that season surely belonged to one man -Virat Kohli. I don't think anyone will ever score 900 runs in a single season of IPL.
