Why Indian players are not allowed to play foreign T-20 leagues?
Suresh Raina recently in an interview said that Indian players should be allowed to play global T20 leagues. A lot of players from different nations play a lot of T20 leagues across the world. Then why do Indian players only play IPL or why don't they participate in these leagues?
The tight schedule of the Indian players is the one reason but the main reason is BCCI doesn't allow Indian players to play global T20 leagues. Basically if any player wants to play in a foreign tournament, he will be required to have a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from their home board and the BCCI has refused all NOC applications for Indian players. BCCI has strictly stated that a player can be banned to play IPL, international cricket for India or even Indian domestic games if he'll be found playing any foreign T20 league.
BCCI also feels that if their players will be allowed to play globally, then the value of IPL will go down as the audience will be able to see their superstars easily at any point of time. This can cost BCCI the viewership of IPL.
Should they be allowed to play? Suresh Raina said that excluding the contracted Indian players, the other Indian players should be allowed to play global leagues. I completely agree with him. This will keep the remaining players in touch and will allow them to experience different conditions and atmosphere across the world which will ultimately be beneficial for Indian cricket in the future. This won't hurt BCCI too as their contracted superstars will only play IPL and it won't hurt their viewership too.
